Kate Creason is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker whose passion is helping families and children heal. She accomplishes this in a variety of different ways and settings. Most often, she is in the therapy room playing with children, talking with families, or counseling adults. She also can be found teaching professionals about trauma and attachment. She also counsels agency professionals in developing programming and implementing trauma-informed care into their practices.

Prior to her own practice, she counseled families at KidPsych, Inc. and at Children’s Bureau, Inc. As the Senior Director of Adoption Services at Children’s Bureau, she led the counseling staff for pre- and post-adoptive families using attachment centered therapies. She also is proud to have worked with Project Home Indy, where Kate counseled young homeless mothers and their children to develop healthy relationships and bonds for life.

Kate enjoys educating other professionals and families about relationships, our brains, and how they affect children’s emotional health. She developed Take CHANCES for Kids!, a training that focuses on how to treat families and children that are struggling with attachment. Over 1500 Indiana professionals have attended this training. In her post-graduate work, she has focused her own professional development on trauma, attachment, adoption, and how relationships shape our lives. She utilizes a family approach while incorporating TheraplayⓇ, Trust-Based Relational InterventionⓇ/TBRIⓇ, Emotional Regulation, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into her work. She received her undergraduate degree in social work from Xavier University in Cincinnati and a Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University in Indianapolis. Kate enjoys spending time with her husband and children, enjoying the outdoors, reading, and traveling.
